Internship: Customs Clearance / Bonded Warehouse Assistant

Our client, a leading Logistics company in Dublin with a workforce of over 260 highly trained employees seeks an intern to work in their Customs & Foreign Trade Department.

JOB DESCRIPTION: To perform Customs activities within the department, with primary responsibility for performing point of arrival Customs Clearances into the company's Bonded Warehouse; compiling and declaring monthly Customs Declarations for all removals from the Bonded Warehouse; perform re-export clearances from the Bonded Warehouse at the time of export. Other duties include, point of arrival clearances for other consignments into free circulation, primarily ex Switzerland.

Secondary responsibilities include preparing Preferential Trade Documents (ATR) & Transaction Testing shipments, to identify compliance issues against international standards.

There will also be the opportunity to develop skills beyond this. Training will also be given on other aspects of Customs & Foreign Trade, and the successful candidate will work with the rest of the Customs and Foreign Trade team in supporting various other tasks while developing their own knowledge of the area.

This role would be ideal for someone looking to specialise his or her knowledge within the Customs/Supply Chain and work with the department management to redevelop and grow this area of business.

REQUIREMENTS: The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:

  Basic knowledge of Customs Clearance processes and procedures, and the desire to expand on that knowledge within a specialised environment.

  Basic understanding of stock control/reconciliation within the warehouse environment.
• 
  
  Good attention to detail (in an accounting fashion) and the ability to meet deadlines
• 
  
  A working knowledge of Computer Software (e.g. Microsoft Office etc.)
• 
  
  Good communication skills, team working skills and providing support to other team members, as it is required
• 
  
  The successful candidate should be able to work in their primary role using their own initative.
• 
  
  Training and guidance will be provided to the successful candidate.
